The Heritage Fair: An Introduction
Heritage School Fairs across Canada encourage students to explore Canadian heritage in a dynamic, supportive, hands-on learning environment. Students choose their own topic, research and write about the topic and then choose a format to present their project. Project topics are very diverse and may focus on history, heritage, geography or culture.
The Edmonton Regional Heritage School Fair is a two-day program open to all students in grades 4 through 9. Every year up to 200 students participate in the event. On the first day students participate in history programs organized by the committee, including a visit to the Legislature, of the Fort Saskatchewan Fort Heritage Precinct. The second day, students set-up their projects and present their work to the public and judges at the Prince of Wales Armouries Heritage Centre.
